Mission and Vision

Mission

Forms men and women in language, thought, history, and creative expression at a level that shapes culture rather than merely follows it. We join intellectual rigour with a Christ-centred understanding of truth and human meaning, so that our graduates engage the great questions of the age with clarity, conscience, and a voice worth hearing.

Vision

Cultivate thinkers, writers, and cultural leaders who interpret the human story with depth and speak wisdom into their generation.

About Arts & Humanities

About

Arts & Humanities

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities prepares graduates to think critically, communicate powerfully, and create work of cultural and commercial value. Its programs combine the enduring disciplines of language, literature, and the creative arts with the contemporary craft of digital media and design, and they place sustained emphasis on the production of finished, portfolio quality work alongside rigorous analysis and inquiry. The Faculty comprises two departments: the Department of English and Creative Writing and the Department of Digital Media and Design. Each department offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs. All undergraduate programs share a common humanities foundation in the first year, covering academic writing, critical thinking, the study of culture and communication, and digital literacy, so that every graduate of the Faculty holds a consistent core of analytical and expressive skill. The Faculty designs its degrees so that graduates leave with both a body of demonstrable work and the intellectual range to adapt across a changing creative economy. Programs incorporate workshops, studio practice, applied projects, and supervised industrial training, and they culminate in a portfolio, capstone, or research component that requires students to integrate craft, theory, and professional judgement. Faculty Graduate Outcomes • Read, interpret, and analyze texts, media, and cultural works with critical rigour. • Write and create with clarity, craft, and a distinct and purposeful voice. • Apply theory and research to the analysis and production of creative and communicative work. • Produce finished, professional quality work for real audiences and contexts. • Use contemporary digital tools and platforms for creation, design, and communication. • Exercise ethical and professional judgement, including in matters of authorship and intellectual property.
