Program Description
The Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics Engineering prepares graduates for professional design, technical leadership, and engineering roles across the semiconductor, telecommunications, embedded technology, and automation sectors. Grounded in a rigorous foundation of calculus, differential equations, physics, and material science, the curriculum develops mastery in core circuit analysis, network theorems, transient dynamics, signal characteristics, and electromagnetic fields.
The program delivers comprehensive training in analogue and digital electronics. Students investigate semiconductor physics, PN junctions, diodes, field-effect transistors, operational amplifiers, rectifiers, and analogue signal conditioning circuits. This is paired with digital systems design covering Boolean logic, combinational and sequential logic, programmable devices, memory architectures, microprocessors, microcontrollers, and real-time embedded hardware-software integration.
Advanced studies cover electronic design automation (EDA), printed circuit board (PCB) design, microelectronics, and integrated circuits (VLSI). Students examine signal conditioning, data acquisition systems, analogue-to-digital/digital-to-analogue conversion, sensors, and instrumentation. The curriculum also integrates continuous and digital signal processing (DSP), analogue and digital communications, RF/microwave engineering, antenna design, fiber optics, and Internet of Things (IoT) network protocols.
System control, automation, and industrial electronics form a key pillar of the degree. Coursework addresses classical feedback loops, PID controllers, modern state-space representation, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), SCADA systems, robotics kinematics, and mechatronics. Students also investigate specialized application domains including power electronics, battery management systems, electric vehicle technology, automotive electronic control units (ECUs), avionics, and biomedical instrumentation.
Modern digital workflows and intelligent technologies are woven throughout the curriculum. Students utilize computational tools and simulation software to model high-speed circuits, evaluate signal integrity, and mitigate electromagnetic interference (EMI/EMC). The program incorporates edge computing, cyber-physical systems, hardware security, digital twins, and machine learning applications for predictive maintenance, signal classification, and sensor data analytics, while emphasizing low-power design, lifecycle carbon reduction, and e-waste sustainability.
Hands-on laboratory exercises, soldering and assembly workshops, field exposure, and systematic troubleshooting lead directly into a major Final-Year Electronics Engineering Capstone Project. Students define a complex technical challenge, develop schematics, run simulations, construct physical or virtual prototypes, execute validation testing, and defend their design decisions. Graduates emerge ready for technical roles in semiconductor firms, telecommunications operators, consumer electronics companies, robotics firms, and engineering consultancies.
