About Computer Science & Information Technology

About

Computer Science & Information Technology

The Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology prepares graduates to design, build, secure, and govern the software and intelligent systems on which the modern economy runs. Its programmes combine a strong computing foundation with specialised study in software engineering, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, and they place sustained emphasis on practical competence demonstrated through projects, internships, and capstones. The faculty comprises three departments: the Department of Software Engineering, the Department of Artificial Intelligence, and the Department of Cybersecurity. Each department offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and contributes specialist modules to the School of Vocational and Professional Studies. All undergraduate programmes share a common computing foundation in the first year, which supports later transfer between programmes and ensures that every graduate of the faculty holds the same core literacy in computing, mathematics, and professional practice. Faculty Graduate Outcomes • Design and implement correct, efficient, and maintainable software and systems. • Apply mathematical and computational reasoning to model and solve real problems. • Evaluate and apply current tools, frameworks, and methods, and learn new ones independently. • Analyse security, ethical, legal, and social implications of computing decisions. • Work effectively in teams and communicate technical work to varied audiences.
